It's a good question Sally! Not patting myself on the back because my positionality is fundamentally different to Lilja as I do not play halldorophone :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Judith, Dan, was controlling piano timbre and effects. The notes I played on the keyboard were shared between Tim and Marylou, placed in buffers for them to trigger when they pleased.

I think there may be something to that: A design mindset may always keep a waking eye on generalisable usefulness.

The flipside of could be a kind of "watering down" though. By this I mean that a practitioner developing their own creative tools will presumably push further in the direction of their own interest and, perhaps, arrive at something truly unique...

I'm very happy that NIME has a healthy mix of both approaches....
