Hi @schwarz! Thanks for the insightful feedback, I've just implemented a little snippet that will freeze the animation 10 seconds in. The animation will resume at refresh or resize of the window. This should limit the CPU hogging. However, I must warn you that Zoom is also a battery-hungry application and thus we recommend to have the laptop plugged in (if possible) for the duration of the conference! We hope you enjoy NIME2020.

I don't think it is just a battery hogging issue, I think there is an accessibility problem there as well. Some kinds of people ? me! ? find it very hard to deal with distracting movement while trying to read text. I managed to block the whole thing with this uBlock Origin rule `||http://nime2020.bcu.ac.uk/P5/sketch.js$script,domain=nime2020.bcu.ac.uk` I'd suggest a button to turn it off.

The site now has a widget in the bottom left that will stop the animation. It only works on desktop for now, but it shouldn?t be much of an issue on mobile anyway. Hope that helps, and thanks! joe

As the last workshop comes to an end, I would like to *THANK YOU ALL* for a wonderful first day. Transitioning to an online platform has been challenging, but seeing the results of this first day made it extremely worthwhile. While I am proud to be part of a big NIME2020 Organising Committee, I would like to let you know that the NIME2020 _hands on_ team is composed only by three people: @joe.wright, @hassan.hussain5 and myself. We would like to thank you for being so patient today, and would like you to keep this in mind in the next four days when seeking help: we are always doing our best to reply as soon as possible and support you. Thanks for all your efforts! One suggestion - before a paper track or keynote starts, is it possible to send a message, either to the track's channel or the main channel? It would be really useful as everyone that's not in the UK is constantly having to calculate time zone differences.

(Not to mention that we don't have lunch time, coffee breaks, and each other to keep us on track!)

what to say thanks for a great first day today. not only is there loads of amazing content from NIME perspective, but I've also really enjoyed see and hearing the different approaches to talks in an online world. loved the drake music stuff too, really insightful
