Abstract

Interactive Machine Learning is a great approach for building interactive systems, including new musical instruments. 

In this workshop, participants will be guided through the use of machine learning to map an input (video, audio, motion…) to an output and develop a new musical instrument all within the MIMIC online platform.

Participants in the 3 hour workshop will receive a simple tutorial of machine learning concepts, followed by an introduction to the website and tools themselves (Learner.js and MaxiInstruments). Next participants get to develop their own musical classifiers and mappings under the guidance of workshop leaders.
