Hello everyone, a bug has come up that we hadn't encountered during testing, so to enable access we have temporarily removed the password. Feel free to browse the conference hub and explore what NIME2020 has to offer. *Please*, do not share the page while we work on fixing the password protection. Thanks for understanding.

quick note, the site does not seem to work correctly on Firefox. the issue is that some links become shared, e.g. Paper Pre-Proceedings and NIME Slack Discussion Space are seen as one link, which goes to the later! Works fine with Chrome.

Hi @10068197, the cog in the bottom left will enable you to halt the animation if your computer struggles with the rendering. We enabled this feature thanks to the precious feedback of @schwarz and @js.vanderwalt :slightly_smiling_face:

The animation on the site is very CPU hungry, originally the site wasn?t intended to host an online conference!

Hi, it seems like during the paper presentations, I can't interact with authors, I don't have chat, or other options that I normally have in zoom, could somebody explain? I also attached the screenshot, where you see that the dock below the videos does not have any usual functions

Hi @vincze, thanks for asking. First of all I would like to reassure you that you are not having any issues with your Zoom App. We disabled the Zoom chat in favour of slack. Why did we do that? First of all we wanted the discussions to be centralised and so we chose to use only slack rather than both slack and zoom chat. What's the benefit? Zoom chats are ephemeral: they disappear once the room is closed. Slack channels instead, remain open after the closure of the Zoom Webinar. This enables authors and attendees to keep the conversation going for the duration of the conference... or even longer! Other benefits: Slack enables pinning of questions, and provides an easier interface for chairs to interact with. Hope this clears things up and we would love to hear your thoughts about our setup!

There are multiple ways in which you can find the rooms for papers. 1. On the Timetable & Zoom Links page, for every paper there is also a link to the relative slack channel. 2. On the left hand side, there is a list of channels named and numbered. If for example you are following paper session 5, the slack channel will be named #papers05-nime-practice-taxonomies 3. Finally, we post on the paper channels 5-10 minutes before the start of the webinar with links and a forced notification to all the slack members. In this way, even if you forgot about a session, we will remind you about it!

This is because installations run throughout the conference. You will find the installations page, linked in the conference hub (see above for link)

Hi Davor, the conference-hub cannot be public as it contains all the links that only a ticket holder should see. We were trying to set a password to the page but we encountered a massive 404 issue on the day of release, so we decided to remove the password but hide the link in the top menu. Now I have a new problem - I can't extract the zip archive, I am getting "an unexpected error prevented you from copying this file" followed by a long error code I can't copy and "The parameter is incorrect". I've never had this before! Just using the built in Windows extract tool on Win10 64bit, I don't have anything else on this computer

I am experiencing something weird when using zoom. Is that normal to get very high CPU when running zoom? My computer is very slow. Does this happen to anyone else?

My brand new Linux computer is not happy about Zoom, there the CPU is spiking. So watching on an old Windows-PC instead...

it completely kills my (3 year old) Macbook pro. Currently using on a surface pro 7 and does get laggy and kills the battery

Yes, zoom is quite hungry. Also on the nime website, I advice to stop the animation, as it is also quite cpu-intensive. There is a button for it in the lower left corner.

Is there any way to go back and listen to the question-and-answer portions of the Zoom paper sessions?

No, but we will have a transcript of the captions, which we will post here on slack when we get them after the conference. Thanks!
